Lincoln Park

When I parked at the Lincoln Park I never imagine all the beauty of that park.  I step down my car and started walking around and saw so much feeling, spirit, passion and so much work put into something they love.  This park is a treasure of memories that people have put in art so that we can enjoy.

I saw very little representation of the Chicanas in this park there were about eight of them. The first is one of two little girls was holding a dove and the other sending a dove away.  They where behind a church.  I think this represents purity because when children are small they don’t have any evil intentions.  Second is where a woman is holding two flags, a heart with knives in it and is dress in man’s clothing and has a hat.  I think she is representing being Mexican/American because she has the two flags the heart means that she loves with all her heart but it is also broken by situation that happens in her life.  She is dress like a man because she might want to be part of a family that she wants to belong.  The third is a woman that is surrounded by serpent.  This represents a woman accepting the serpent as part of her decisions of in her life.  She is worshiping the serpent do to something evil for her.  The fourth is a woman that is surrounded by earth, corn, two men and a worship alter.  She is being represented by all this that it seems she is mother earth.  Men worship her so that she can help them with their crops, and so the whole world does too.  The fifth is an Indian woman receiving purity water under an eclipse.  The sixth is a colored woman dressed with man pants, converse tennis, white tank top, has something painted in her stomach and is wearing crown of different representation in her life.  The last one I saw was in the painting where she is a skeleton.  She was probably part of a Mexican war because she has bullets around her neck and body.  In her sombrero has her last name.  Frida was the eighth woman that I saw.  She is being represented by things she loved These were the eight women I saw along the park.

As for the Virgin Mary, La Llorona, and La Malinche, I only saw the Virgin Mary.  A very beautiful painting.  She is opening her arms to the world letting us know that she is there for us.  Two angles next to her each with one flag of the United States and Mexico.  She has under her feet and angle caring her, a dove flying, flowers going down and a message to someone or to us.  I have always believed in the Virgin Mary she has interfere with God to help me in many of my problems and blessing that have occurred in my life.  I believe this is one of the painting that I loved the most.  Because it has many memories where she has become very important to me.  One was when I was unable to get pregnant so my mom and I went to Mexico to la Vasilica to pray for me to get pregnant.  Four month later I was.  Another time was when my mom was very sick. My sister took her to the hospital when they got there she went into a coma. The doctors told us that my mom had only two things that could happen to her.  It was for her to die or become a vegetable. I asked the Virgin Mary to interfere and to go with God and ask him for her to get better.  I told my sister and my brothers that I would not like for me to see her like that.  I prefer for her to die.  It was a Friday night we went to the hospital and pray for her.  They asked for one of us to stay in the hospital so I decided to stay.  I stayed in the lobby and started praying for her, a couple of hours later the nurse came looking for me and told me my mother was asking for me.  She had been in coma for one day so I could not believe that my mom had woken up.  I went to her room and sure enough the was awake and knew everything we were asking her.  This was two of the many miracles that God and the Virgin Mary had done for me.  This painting is one of the many that I loved from this park.
